In February 2016, Saint John Energy launched an innovative new ductless mini-split heat pump rental program, the first of its kind in Canada, aimed at providing customers with opportunities for energy savings and enhanced home comfort.
Based on our customer engagement, it was clear that many people were interested in a mini split ductless heat pump but could not afford the large capital outlay.
We were therefore proud to launch this innovative program, and help communities reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions throughout New Brunswick.
We had originally budgeted for 200 units installed by the end of 2016 but ended up installing 8 times more. A year later, we had exceeded 3,000 units, validating the strength of consumer demand.
In 2017, the program was recognized with two national awards; Energy Star Most Efficiency Promoter of the Year, and Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow (QUEST) for Excellence in Utility Solutions. Our staff did an amazing job in developing and implementing this innovative program, and deserves every bit of commendation.
