Awards

Introduced in 2021, the Reliability and Resiliency Award is awarded to a member utility that has displayed excellence in asset management, innovation in reliability, outage communications and overall reliability and resiliency management. Held annually, recipient entries are reviewed and evaluated by an external panel of experts drawn from industry and academia.

For more than 30 years, Electricity Canada has tracked and monitored the safety records of its member utilities and recognized their achievements through the annual Electricity Canada Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

The Canadian Electric Vehicle Awards Program is a joint initiative between Plug’n Drive and Electricity Canada. Launched in 2014, the program currently features four award categories recognizing the leading dealerships, electricity companies, and EV advocates promoting the adoption of EVs in Canada and making positive contributions to a clean energy future. On an annual basis, entries are evaluated by an external judging committee comprised of Canadian EV experts drawn from industry, non-profit organizations, government, and the media.

The winners will be announced at the Awards luncheon on September 12, 2024 in Halifax at EVVE 2024, Canada's biggest electric vehicle event held annually by Electric Mobility Canada, the hosting sponsor of the Awards program.

Through the mandatory Sustainable Electricity program, Electricity Canada’s members commit to integrate sustainability into their company operations. The Sustainable Electricity Awards recognizes companies in the electricity sector who have achieved the high-level goals of sustainable development and corporate responsibility.

The Women in Electricity Award recognizes an individual or team in their extraordinary resolve in advancing women in utility organizational structures, company processes, and outcomes that result in more women working in organizations across Canada.

This National Electricity Month, June 2024, Electricity Canada’s Faces of the Industry award will highlight the work of six industry professionals, who have demonstrated leadership in every aspect of the electricity sector from linework to ops to engineering to safety to construction and everything else.

The Jim McFadgen Award for Standards Excellence will recognize an individual who has demonstrated exemplary efforts in the development, implementation, and/or promotion of standards within the industry.
