Electricity Companies
and Pandemic Planning in Canada

The Canadian Electricity Association—in coordination with our industry and government partners—is closely monitoring COVID-19 developments. We are committed to the health and safety of our members and the public.

Beyond monitoring, CEA is working with our members, the electric utility industry, and our government partners to gather and share up-to-date information, best practices and guidance to help our members stay safe and maintain operational integrity.

COVID-19 does not pose any technical risk to Canada’s electricity infrastructure. Electricity companies have plans in place to ensure uninterrupted service while ensuring any affected employee is able to focus on getting better.

The following resources provide an overview of how CEA and electric companies prepare for, and respond to, pandemics; the coordination that is underway between the federal government and the electric power industry; and links to learn more.

Not all jobs can be done from home.

Across the supply-chain, CEA is working diligently to support our members who remain focused on critical operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have put together a short video to remind Canadians about the critical nature of our work and why lineworkers may be working in the field during this pandemic. We are all #PoweringThruTogether
