Statement on Canadian electricity industry assistance to Ukraine

Ottawa (March 7) – Electricity Canada is proud to work with its member electricity companies to provide critical assistance to the people of Ukraine. Four months ago, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada contacted Electricity Canada and its members for assistance and requested equipment to help restore Ukraine’s power grid – parts of which have been destroyed or significantly damaged.

Electricity Canada’s members have responded and have identified vital equipment to donate to Ukraine. We are currently working with the Government of Canada, and the Embassy of Ukraine, to ship the equipment.

The equipment Canada’s electricity providers are offering will enable Ukrainians to repair their electricity grid and to restore not just power but some semblance of their daily lives. We are honoured to assist with this.
