Nominations for 2015 Electric Vehicle Dealership Awards Now Open

The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) and Plug’n Drive are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2015 Canadian Electric Vehicle Dealership Awards Program.

Dealerships in Canada selling electric vehicles (EVs) are encouraged to self-nominate for these one-of-a-kind awards for leadership in EV sales: Leading Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Dealership Award, Leading Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) Dealership Award, and the EV Dealership Inspiration Award.

“EVs are here to stay and their potential to transform the transportation sector is becoming more obvious and more attainable,” said Jim R. Burpee, President and CEO of the Canadian Electricity Association. “There are many factors at play as we strive to maximize the technology, not the least of which is the role of dealerships who engage face-to-face with consumers.”

Dealerships can have a significant influence on consumer perceptions about owning an EV and on EV adoption rates within a community. “We all benefit when dealerships help drivers make the switch,” said Cara Clairman, President and CEO of Plug’n Drive. “More electric cars on the road means fewer harmful emissions and over $2000 in savings for a driver each year on fuel and maintenance costs.”

“Consumers want choices. They want information. They want a level of confidence in the option of going electric,” said Ian Jack, Managing Director of Communications and Government Relations at the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA). “We are a proud sponsor of the Awards program because we recognize the value in shining the spotlight on success and sharing best practices.”

This week, Canada will be celebrating the milestone of having sold 10,000 electric vehicles. “We’re marking the occasion with an event in Toronto called EV 10000,” added Ms. Clairman. Plug’n Drive will be hosting a showcase of the many makes and models of EVs sold in Canada at the Brookfield Place Atrium from January 12-16, 2015.

The 2015 nomination package is now available at www.electricvehicleawards.ca. Nominations will close on March 31, 2015.

The 2015 EV Dealership Award winners will be announced at the EV2015VÉ Electric Vehicles Conference and Trade Show in Halifax May 25-27, 2015. EV2015VÉ is Canada’s biggest electric vehicle event held annually by Electric Mobility Canada, the hosting sponsor of the Awards program.
