Ottawa (November 21) AltaLink is has received Electricity Canada’s award for reliability excellence at the 5th annual Powering Partnerships summit in Ottawa.
Introduced in 2021, the Reliability and Resiliency award is given to member utility that has showcased dedication in asset management, innovation in reliability, outage communications and overall reliability and resiliency management. Recipient entries for this award are reviewed and evaluated by an external panel of experts drawn from industry and academia.
AltaLink’s developed an asset management framework based on the international standard ISO55000 that allowed them to implement cutting-edge technology and proven risk management approaches to continuously improve.
Highlights of AltaLink’s efforts include:
- Consistently above average performance.
- Innovations in fault monitoring.
- Pilot project with machine learning on fault detection to improve risk-based decisions.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement through lessons learned practices.
- Implementation of a graduated threat response program.
