OTTAWA (November 8, 2018) – Last night, the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) is celebrating industry excellence in health and safety. The Association will recognize electricity companies with the strongest health and safety records in Canada at an award ceremony in Ottawa.
“Canada’s electricity industry strives to be among the safest in the world”, said President and CEO of CEA Sergio Marchi. “This year’s top performers have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to ensure the well-being of customers and employees while also providing reliable, affordable, clean energy.”
Each year, CEA tracks the safety record of its members and recognizes the best performers as part of the Occupational Health and Safety Awards program. The following electricity companies were recognized for excellence for the past year:
- OPG: Winner of the 2018 CEA President’s Award of Excellence for Employee Safety in Generation – Group 1
- Manitoba Hydro: Winner of the 2018 CEA President’s Award of Excellence for Employee Safety in Transmission – Group 1
- Toronto Hydro: Winner of the 2018 CEA President’s Award of Excellence for Employee Safety in Distribution – Group 1
- Capital Power: Winner of the 2018 CEA President’s Award of Excellence for Employee Safety in Generation – Group 2
