TORONTO, Ontario – September 26, 2016. Today, the Canadian Electricity Association(CEA) and Plug'n Drive, announced the winners of the 2016 Electric Vehicle Dealership Awards during EV Day at Queen’s Park in Toronto.
“CEA is proud to host this one-of-a-kind program and recognize national leadership in the promotion and adoption of electric vehicles,” said the Honourable Sergio Marchi, President and CEO of the Canadian Electricity Association. “Canadian electricity is some of the cleanest in the world, and the electrification of transportation will be a crucial component in building a cleaner and more prosperous future.”

“This year’s winners are making electric vehicles and information about them increasingly accessible,” said Cara Clairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Plug’n Drive. “Collectively, their exceptional efforts and results deliver environmental and economic benefits that extend beyond their communities to all Canadians.”
There are currently over 24,000 electric vehicles on the road in Canada, and they are poised for significant growth. Indeed, analysis of the deep cuts to carbon pollution in Canada required to hit climate goals suggests that by 2050, virtually the entire personal transportation sector will be powered by electricity.
There are also significant economic benefits to electrical vehicle ownership. The price of electricity can be as low as one-sixth the cost of gasoline. Electric vehicles require less maintenance because their motors are less complex. And they do not require routine maintenance like oil changes, new mufflers and transmission fluid.
