Following more than a century of growth and stability , Canada's suppliers of electricity now find themselves at the forefront of the country’s efforts to decarbonize and to stimulate the growth of the Canadian economy. In the absence of policy and regulatory change, electricity demand is poised to exceed supply as transportation, buildings and industry rapidly electrify to help Canada reach its carbon neutrality goals.
Electricity Canada is the trusted voice behind Canada’s suppliers of electricity, working to positively impact the policy change needed to grow the sector while maintaining reliability and affordability. It promotes responsible solutions to the nation’s energy transition, energy security and resiliency goals, and supports interactions between its members, governments, and regulators at all levels.
It also facilitates its members’ relationships with key industry partners, and with energy distributors in the USA. Electricity Canada provides an environment for its members in which professionals can exchange best practices and provides reliable information about electricity and electrification to the public, the media, and other interested parties.
The association is evolving rapidly as its members’ needs evolve. Electricity Canada constantly monitors the rapidly changing energy sector and adapts its services and approach accordingly.
